Description

The module “Management of APs” is dedicated, as its name suggests, the management of access points. The aim of this module is to manage the APs independently. However, it is necessary to create environments and locations before creating access points. It is the only needed prerequisite to use this module.

This section describes the actions feasible in this module:

• Adding access points
• Changing access points
• The elimination of access points.

Add an access point

Reminder - Pre-requisites:

• defined environments and locations.
• Select the environment where the access point has to be added.
• Add the AP to a specific place
• Inform the characteristics of the AP to create then click on ” Add a point of access ”:

Note

An AP is defined by the couple ” SSID - send MAC ”. To specify an AP spreading N SSID, it is necessary to create N hurt by access point in the module.

Constraints to be respected::

• All the fields (except the description) must be informed.
• The couple “SSID - MAC address” must not be duplicated in the database.
• Do not use accent in the description field.
• Insert only figures (no letter or other character) into the fields of coordinates x, y, z.
• It is recommended to respect the dimensions of the place and to position correctly the AP. A warning message will be shown if the coordinates of the created AP are out of the place. However, it is possible to continue, it does not prevent the creation out of the place.

Update an Access Point

1. Select the environment in which is located the access point to be modified.
2. Specify the place of the AP to be updated.
3. Click the right access point in the APs list to get automatically its informations on the right-hand side of the interface.
4. Modify fields to be corrected.
5. Click the button “Update”. If the constraints below are respected, the database will be updated.

Constraints to be respected:

• All the fields (except the description) must be informed.

Delete an access point

The approach is the same that previously until the selection of the access point.

1. Select the environment in which is located the access to be deleted.
2. Specify the place to delete the AP.
3. Click the right access point in the APs list to get automatically its information on the right-hand side of the interface.
4. Click the button “Delete the access point” and confirm by “Yes”.
